Chapter 9: Landing Gear Cover

This section of the chapter covers making the landing gear cover.  I opted not to follow the plans method for this but instead followed Wayne Hicks method.

I will add a little information in that I used the following hardware to mount the cover in place (All were available from Spruce):

Anchor Nuts: K1000-3 (x13 – may want more or less depending on how you do it)

Machine Screws: MS24694-S50 (Same number as the anchor nuts)

Cherry Rivets: CCC-32 (Stainless Steel Flush Mount)

Shaped the back portion of the foam:


This shows the supporting lip that was built up as well as the hardware that was installed.  I chose to use 6 layers on the lip and it worked out great:
